Frenectomy

Laser Frenectomy for Tongue & Lip Ties
A tongue tie (ankyloglossia) or lip tie occurs when the tissue (frenum) connecting the
tongue or lip is too tight, thick, or restrictive. These restrictions can interfere with normal
oral function and may impact feeding, speech development, airway health, orthodontic
development, sleep, posture, and overall wellness.
A laser frenectomy is a gentle, precise procedure used to release these restrictions and
restore natural movement.
WHY WE USE A LASER
We use advanced dental laser technology because it allows us to perform frenectomies with
exceptional accuracy and comfort.
Benefits of laser treatment include:
• Minimal discomfort
• Little to no bleeding
• No sutures required
• Reduced inflammation
• Faster healing
• Lower risk of infection
• Safe and effective for infants, children, and adults
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROCEDURE
1. Evaluation
We carefully assess tongue and lip mobility, function, and symptoms—not just appearance.
Function is key.
2. Preparation
A topical anesthetic is applied for comfort. The procedure is quick and typically well
tolerated.
3. Laser Release
The laser gently releases the restrictive tissue with precision, preserving surrounding
structures.
4. Immediate Improvement
Many patients notice increased mobility right away.
The entire procedure usually takes only a few minutes.
AFTERCARE & HEALING

Laser frenectomies heal differently than traditional surgical procedures. Proper aftercare is
essential to ensure optimal results.
• Specific post-release exercises will be provided to prevent reattachment
• Mild soreness is normal and temporary
• Most patients return to normal activities the same day
• Feeding, speech, and oral function often improve progressively over days to weeks
We closely guide families through the healing process and collaborate with lactation
consultants, bodyworkers, speech therapists, or myofunctional therapists when
appropriate.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
We believe oral health is deeply connected to whole-body health. Releasing oral restrictions
can support proper growth, airway development, sleep quality, and long-term wellness.
Every patient receives an individualized evaluation and treatment plan—because no two
ties (or patients) are the same.
